- Following Richard Sr.'s death on June 12, 1712, a resident of Hempstead, there was a quarrel concerning the estate, between Peter, weaver, the eldest son of Richard Totten, deceased, and Peter Jr., cord-winder, the eldest son of Peter. However, it was satisfactorily settled thru the arbitration of (Richards Son's) William, Benjamin and Jasper, the youngest son of said Richard Sr., and an indenture made on July 28, 1713, between Peter Sr., son of Richard, and Peter Jr., witnessed by William, Benjamin and Jasper, whereby Peter, Jr., in consideration of 53 pounds, lawful New York money, relinquished all rights to the estate.
