    • Obituary: VERNON H. BURRESS - He was born to Hazel and Emory Burress on July 2, 1929 in Bluefield WV. He moved here from Baxley, GA in 1973. He was a retired electrician and a World War II Navy Veteran and Korean Conflict Marine Veteran. He was a member of IBEW Local #553 and the American Legion Post #155 of Crystal River, Fla. He was a protestant. Surviving are his wife; Shirley A. Burress of Crystal River, Fla., two sons; Edward Burress of Gloucester, Va, and Gregory Burress of Homosassa, Fla., one daughter; Michelle Burress of FL and six grandchildren. Private cremation will take place. Brown Funeral Home, Crystal River - Lecanto.

The Norfolk squadron is led by Major Lucius T. Renshaw, USMCR, Kinston, NC and is made up of men from Tidewater Virginia and northern North Carolina. Among them are Pfc. Robert Quail and Cpl. Vernon Burress, both of Wicomico. They will return home around the last of this month.
