- Know all men by these presents, that we, George Hylton Jr. & Elijah Hylton are held and firmly bound unto, David Campbell, Esq. Governor of the Common-wealth of Virginia, and his successors, in the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, current money and for the payment of which, well and truly to be made to the said Governor and his successors in office, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals, and dated this 4th day of February 1839. The condition of the above obligation is such, that, whereas a marriage is shortly to be had and solemnized between the above bound George Hylton Jr. and Sarah Delong of the county of Floyd. If, therefore, there be no lawful cause or impediment to obstruct said marriage, then the above obligation to be void, else to remain in full force and virtue.
